SnapRocket has a feature which hasn’t yet found it’s way into the help pages. That is the ability to see a live preview of the current window.

The SnapRocket URL to enable live-preview is SnapRocket://show-content and the URL to disable it is SnapRocket://hide-content.

SnapRocket as a System Preferences Shortcut

Mac Veterans know that the easiest way to an apps preferences is command , but what about a shortcut to your Mac's System Preferences? SnapRocket makes it easy.

Activate SnapRocket and press , to launch System Preferences.
Once the SnapRocket preference pane is active press command L to show all installed preference panes and activate the search box.
Type the first few letters of a preference pane and press return to open it.

Bonus: Check out the way possible matches are highlighted as you type into the search box. Nice touch Apple!

SnapRocket has been put through its paces by the testers at MacDeveloper.net since early January. The beta program took longer than anticipated but the testers had many great suggestions and the final SnapRocket version is much improved as a result.

It's a free download so grab a copy and give it a spin.

It's all About Focus

One trick I've discovered as the first user of SnapRocket allows me to regain focus on an application quickly. If I use Command W to close a window the focus remains with the program which owns that window. Often I want to switch the focus to whichever application is underneath the window I've just closed.

At this point I have three choices:

Reach for the mouse and click the new window.
Use an application switcher or one of OS X's shortcut combinations
Press and release SnapRocket's activation modifiers.

I find that SnapRocket is the quickest and easiest way to regain my focus.

SnapRocket Has a New Identity

Jordan Langille of OneToad Design designed the icon for SnapRocket. I've heard good things about Jordan and he definitely lived up to his reputation. The icon turned out great!

I can highly recommend Jordan if you need any design work done.

Announcing SnapRocket

Gray Matter Labs' first product is just about ready for prime time. SnapRocket creates a keyboard-based way to move around your OSX desktop using just an activation key and the arrow keys.

I've been using it for a while and can't wait to get it out in the wild. Unfortunately, there are still some pesky items to complete; such as help files and licensing support.

Until then here's a little teaser pic
